I already know a little history but Id like to study it in more detail . I would like a list of things I should study (my problem is that I have no idea where to start ) . Also Im just a broke student and Ill only read things on wikipedia . In this fall I will attend college for a history degree and Im almost sure that in my country I`ll study mostly about Romanian history and a little bit less about world history .
If you're interested in a true "history of the world", what you need to check out is the idea of "Big History". In short, it's the idea that history begins literally at the beginning (the Big Bang) and attempts to trace patterns of human development over long periods of time. Specificity isn't the goal here, rather, it's the creation of the best overarching narrative possible for the history of the human race. Thus, Big History is a truly interdisciplinary way to look at the past, as you'll have to drawn upon the hard sciences and other social sciences in addition to history in order to make sense of those long-term trends and patterns.
It has it's problems and critics, but it's a very valid way of trying to understand the past.
