Primary Causes of World War 1?

by Shock3600

For an assignment in history we're making a presentation of a topic for the Great War, and mine is the causes of World War One. Though we don't have to do much research at all, I know I want to take world history which will involve much research and paper writing, and I have an interest in this topic, so I want to go overboard. My main purpose of asking this is to find out what historians see that I may not when researching, and to find good sources. So far my established list of broad reasons are the growing militaries and the arms race, alliances spanning multiple great powers, a recent surge of nationalism resulting in nations such as Italy and Germany forming, the imperialism of the great powers of the time leading to a conquest mindset and great power competition, the rivalry between great poets such as the French German rivalry, the potential for a German hegemony over Central Europe, the balance of power leading to great powers not wanting any other to become too strong, and finally the assassination allowing for a spark to ignite Europe. What major causes have I missed? Which would you contribute more? And what are details Iv missed that are crucial? Thanks! And I would love sources for further resources and possible credentials and/or work you've done so I can use you as a source and possibly read some of your work!
