"Mantuan Bard" of Thule in Jordanes' Getica?

by Ozz14

Hello, I'm reading Jordanes' Getica, and in part one while going over Roman geography he mentions thule, citing a 'Mantuan Bard'. He places the quote "And Farthest Thule shall serve thee" then moves on to describing Britain. Are there any scholarly consensuses on the identity of this person?

numina sola colant, tibi serviat ultima Thule

  • Georgicon 1.30 by P. Vergilius Maro (in Latin)

Sole dread of seamen, till far Thule bow

Vergil (as he is more popularly known) was from the city of Mantua, and is the first to reference "Ultima Thule" (Far/Farthest Thule).
