For the small non-native American population that was living in the Louisiana Purchase at the time it was purchased by the American government, what was their reaction? How did they feel about being part of the United States?

The only place I can think fit enough for your question would be New Orleans because Louisiana, as you may know, spanned the Deep South, the Midwest, and I believe the Northwest as well. New Orleans was probably the most populated city in that whole territory and from what I know, New Orleans adapted to their new country without many a hitch.

New Orleans is that city conquered by many nations, Empires, but never really did they conquer their loyalty, their culture that persists even to this day. The reaction varies, if assuming, because that's just human nature.

Some probably enjoyed the change, some didn't, and there were perhaps some who didn't care at all. Back then, you couldn't just pick up roots and leave, North America was a deadly place so, even if they wanted to, they really couldn't due to their geographic location.

You can take land, you can take cities, towns, but you can't take someone's culture and destroy it outright. I believe they adapted to the change and went where the wind took em'.

Hope I answered your question, if not, please reply.

God bless.
