New york seems to have a different naming system for their courts than the rest of the country, I'm curious as to how this came about
It's not just New York that names their highest court that. Maryland's top level court is the Maryland Court of Appeals. There is no Maryland Supreme Court. The highest criminal courts in Texas and Oklahoma are called the Court of Criminal Appeals.
