Historical sources displaying man over nature mentality in medieval Europe inspired by Christian theology?

by slishy

I know it's really specific, but I'm currently revising a research paper I wrote arguing that Christian beliefs in medieval Europe encouraged the notion that man was essentially above nature and therefore he could do with it what he pleased. I've had difficulty locating specific works that demonstrate this phenomenon, if anybody knows of any historical sources (sermons, journals, etc...), I would really appreciate the help! I have access to most scholarly article databases so names of sources are all I need. Thanks!

Hello there. Your question seems to be related to school work, so we just want to remind you, and any potential respondents, that our rules DO permit people to ask for help with their homework, so long as they are seeking clarification or resources, rather than the answer itself. This policy is further explained in this META Thread.

Additionally, while our users may be able to help you out here, we hope that you also will take the time to check out our six-part series, "Finding and Understanding Sources", which should hopefully prove to be helpful for you as you continue in your research.

So, you've written this paper, arguing a position, without having found any sources to support the position? May it be that the conclusion has preceeded the research? I ask because, though I'm not an expert on the subject, the thesis strikes me as rather opposite the nature of medieval Christianity, at least as I understand it from my own reading. If I'm wrong, I'd be very curious to know what sources you do have suggesting the thesis.
