What hasn't been written about World War I?

by somemixedkid

I'm currently working on a semester-long research paper about WWI, but I'm finding it extremely hard to find a topic that hasn't been written about extensively. What, if any, unique research on WWI can be done at the undergraduate level? I originally planned on writing about which factors prevented peace before 1918, but much better writers than I have already answered this question. Should I stick to a historiographical approach or try to slip some unique analysis into a heavily covered topic like World War I? Thank you for any assistance.

Hello there. Your question seems to be related to school work, so we just want to remind you, and any potential respondents, that our rules DO permit people to ask for help with their homework, so long as they are seeking clarification or resources, rather than the answer itself. This policy is further explained in this META Thread.

Additionally, while our users may be able to help you out here, we hope that you also will take the time to check out our six-part series, "Finding and Understanding Sources", which should hopefully prove to be helpful for you as you continue in your research.

Does this have to encompass grand global political overviews or can you focus more closely on individual national or social issues?

One fascinating issue is the impact of WWI on Irish Nationalism and identity; the way WWI interrupted the progress of Home Rule for Ireland, through to the public-relations disaster of the 1918 Conscription Crisis in reaction to the German offensive, plus of course the Easter Rising in 1916 and the Anglo-Irish War just after the end of WWI, which was policed and fought in no small measure by WWI veterans.
