I was looking at Wikipedia's entry about Mesopotamia and it had a map that showed where arsenic was mined. Other than poisoning people, what use did people in the ancient world have for arsenic?

Unfortunately I'm more familiar with the first use that I'll mention, but in the ancient world (and indeed up until today in some parts of the world) arsenic was used in preparations as a depilatory (hair removing chemical) but it strikes me that it may have been of wider use in a dedicated mining capacity in the ancient world for its uses in making bronze alloys. Unfortunately the latter use is well beyond my area of knowledge.
