I'm looking for a wider, more academic discussion on the phenomenon of male nudity, especially related to issues such as discussed in this (non-academic) article about how swimming - high school teams, YMCA, etc was typically nude well I to the 1960s. This is similar to how school gang showers have gone from nude groups, to widely u used, to private stalls. I rarely see anyone young even changing in the gym without covering up. Meanwhile women have become much more revealing in that time (see bikini prevalence) and society more casual in general.

Is this a function of the 1960s and before adults having been veterans and getting used to group nudity? Is the decline in group nudity due to molestation paranoia, or fears of homosexuals? Does this tie into awareness of the boarding school phenomenon? Is it just a sign of declining self confidence of mens bodies? Increased sexualization? Even today it would be very rare to see someone confident enough to wear a Speedo without a modelesque physique.
Did you ever get information on this? I would be curious about this.
