How well trained was the average Soviet conscript during the Soviet-Afghan war?

I have seen the Soviet war in Afghanistan compared to the American war in Vietnam and I know that American draftees were not always the best trained. So, how comprehensive/how well was the average Soviet soldier fighting in Afghanistan trained?

A bit delayed, I know, but this old answer would likely be of interest.
