Unintentional ground casualties from aerial dogfights in WWII?

by jimmy_costigan

In gun camera footage of WWII aerial battles, there's a lot of lead flying around. Are there any examples of reported accidental casualties on the ground caused by missed shots?

It's probably not possible to definitively count the number of actual bullets that killed people on the ground because most aerial dogfights occurred in the vicinity of antiaircraft artillery, which killed enormous numbers of people on the ground. According to the article below, most of the civilian casualties at Pearl Harbor were from ground-based AA; the British estimated that 1 out of 4 civilians killed in the Blitz were killed by flak or bullets falling back to earth.

I know of at least one case: http://www.henkvanheerde.nl/vollenhove/20e%20eeuw/2wo.htm

Freely translated by me: Niesje Edelenbos 11 years old, died on the 24th of March 1945 by a stray bullet from a fighter belonging to the Polish 308 Sq. whilst looking for firewood.

Though as far as I know there are no monographs covering this subject.
