What is a good piece of literature for a book review in a college level history of Japan course?

by doghouse45

The professor said it can be fiction, but still needs primary sources. He's given me some suggestions, but I like to run historical matters by this subreddit.

Hi, I can probably give you some suggestions, but I want to make sure I understand the question.

Is the piece of literature supposed to be a primary source - ie. written by a Japanese author during certain period of time. Are there any limits on the time period? And could it be either fiction or non-fiction?

This policy is further explained in this META Thread.

Additionally, while our users may be able to help you out here, we hope that you also will take the time to check out our six-part series, "Finding and Understanding Sources", which should hopefully prove to be helpful for you as you continue in your research.
