Islam holds Jesus to be a prophet, and Islamic Caliphates saw the Byzantines as a continuation of the Roman state. Did any Muslims openly express animosity towards the Eastern Romans for their role in Christ's execution?

Forgive me if this comment is not on topic enough but I wanted to point out to you that mainstream Islam does not believe that Jesus was crucified. They believe he never died but was assumed directly into heaven.

I hope this helps you understand the topic more.

I also wanted to ask a follow up question: Was the Byzantine's role in Christ's Crucifixion the primary reason the prophet Muhammad demanded the occupation of Constantinople with such religious fervor?
