Some people really hate Aurangzeb (especially Hindu nationalists). Other people think he was pretty great (https://aeon.co/essays/the-great-aurangzeb-is-everybodys-least-favourite-mughal). Do the claims made by this article (and other Aurangzeb-rehabilitators) on the one hand, or Hindutva type folks on the other, hold up or is this a case of demonisation on the one side and whitewashing on the other?
There's a lot to be said about this topic, but unfortunately it's often been commented that AskHistorians is short of experts on Mughal history.
