I understand the USSR deployed significant numbers of women during WWII in combat roles and am interested in reading more about them. Do any of the learned members here know of any good suggestions?
I suggest "A Dance with Death: Soviet Airwomen in World War II" by Anne Noggle, "Lady Death: The True Story of Russian Sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko" by Steve Valiant, and "Roza Shanina Russian Sniper" by Robert Corrigan. These should start you in a good direction. I absolutely love Lyudmila Pavlichenko. She is called one of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and has the most kills for a female sniper.
