Did peasants in medieval Europe ever criticise feudalism, or have widespread disdain for the government similar to what Europe has today?

A lot of political criticism today involves comparison between governments or philosophies. Before the printing press/mass literacy, how many people would have even known of alternatives to feudalism?

Perhaps a follow-up would be what do we know of medieval peasant political thought? We know of a number of peasant rebellions and some leaders (e.g. Thomas Muenzter), but has anyone done a systemic analysis of the thoughts and imagery that these peasants used, in the same way that say analysis in the symbolism of the Mazarinades have been done in reference to the Fronde?
