Looking particular for something semi-entertaining, nothing too dense but still informative.

The Reddit reading list has Mary Beard's book on Pompeii. She has since written 'SPQR' on the Roman Republic and Empire, which is also an informative and easy to read book.

Side note - Also just spent a good half hour reading about the gods. I know some but would love to go deeper. Favorite books on ancient gods?
