What I can't wrap my mind around is how something like the Holocaust came to be. I mean, surely it was more complex than Hitler having an idea about getting rid of a race of people and the masses just joining in on the idea. How did it get to the point of six million people dying in a concentration camp?

There's loads of information about the way the Holocaust occurred, the decisions made by the Nazi hierarchy, and the levels of anti-semitism in the German public in the part of our frequently asked questions section that deals with Nazi Germany. Hopefully you'll find a satisfactory answer to your question - and to others you didn't yet realise you had - in that FAQ question!
