I in no way mean to sound rude or insulting, and I am fully aware that this sub is run purely by volunteers who all have lives outside of reddit. So please don't take this to mean I'm operating under the delusion that all of you have nothing to do all day but answer questions and respond to email.
With that said, however, I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the fact that I have contacted several mods over the past few months with various inquiries and I have not received one single answer from any of you. Not once.
Before anyone gets defensive and reiterates to me what I already know, as mentioned in my first paragraph, can you all appreciate how very frustrating this is? I don't expect anyone to drop everything and answer an email they receive within the first five minutes. But I do think it's reasonable to expect that someone will get back with me within, I dunno, two weeks, and certainly I think it's reasonable to expect that someone will eventually get back to me at all. But for it to be the case that I've tried to get in touch with not one, or two, but in fact seven or eight people, and entire months have gone by without any response at all...to call it frustrating, especially when my entire purpose is to see about getting involved with AH, is an understatement. I could, you know, email mods to ask "What gives," but, well...
I understand long turnaround times. I don't understand not ever getting a response from anyone no matter how much time goes by.
2 cents from me. I spend my time in AH moderating: reviewing new posts, reviewing new comments, writing mod notices, banning people, going through the reports, checking the mod mail, trying to keep up with moderator policy changes, helping fellow mods with questions. If I get some random PM from someone, I'll try to answer. But if it's something I can't or don't have time to answer immediately, it'll simply get lost in the pile. If you PMed me and I didn't answer, I can guarantee that your message went off my radar within a couple of hours. If it's important to you, it's up to you to pursue it.
Having said that, if you have a moderation or coaching question, I'm going to second Zhukov here and recommend moderator mail over PMing someone: if you send a mod mail, it's visible to the entire mod team, and will sit in our in-box until it gets dealt with. So your chances of getting an answer from someone are much better than a PM.
Are you sending PMs or are you sending Modmails? Considering that you are a brand new account which is 24 minutes old I have no way of checking to see which, but that makes a big difference. If you are sending PMs, then you have no expectation of a response. We all find it pretty rude, actually. At best you should expect a short message explaining "We don't moderate through PM to please resend this via Modmail" but that isn't a guarantee.
However, if you are sending modmails, then we generally respond within a few hours, but as you are doing this anonymously, there is no way to go back and check why it was ignored, or if that even is the case. We make a point of responding to every modmail we get, even the super rude ones, if only to tell them to stop it or else be reported to the Admins for abusing modmail.
To be frank, as you state that "I have contacted several mods" it sounds like you are doing this via PM. So there is your answer. STOP IT. Send us a MODMAIL and you'll get a response pretty quick.
