What is it about a story, within the text itself, that makes historians think it came from an oral tradition originally? What elements or devices or other aspects are usually shared by (or indicative of) a story from oral tradition that was later transcribed?
If I wanted to write a story that was supposed to be from oral tradition, what would it include?
You might have more luck over at r/askanthropologists or r/anthropology as oral traditional is right up their alley.
