We were wondering today in the office when jokes about 9/11 would become acceptable in polite society. When did jokes about the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor reach mainstream society?
Followup, or maybe return question for OP: what were such jokes? I ask because honestly, I've never heard one before, and my parents came of age during the war itself but had rather dark senses of humor. It's odd that I have never, ever heard one.
