In mythology & popular culture, leprechauns are associated with luck (good or bad). They're also associated with gold and gold coins. In addition, a coin flip is a universal symbol of luck/fortune. The three seem oddly aligned. Is there any historical evidence to connect leprechauns and coin flips?

I don't know of a situation of a coin flip representing luck or a fortune in the sense of wealth. A coin flip is used to decide something - to decide the fate of a future situation or to settle a contended situation - or something like that. What are you think of that would equate a coin toss with luck and/or wealth? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
