I've gone down the rabbit hole of YouTube conspiracies and I've seen a few videos on this alleged act in our U.S. Government and they all seem to imply that the federal government only has jurisdiction of Washington D.C. and not the rest of the states.
It continues to claim that we voluntarily comply to these laws and their enforcement is unlawful outside of D.C.
I know it's a stretch and sure sounds off but, I was curious what you history buffs know about this act. Perhaps you can shed light on their misinterpretations or maybe there is some validity to these claims?
The supremacy clause of the constitution (Article 6 section 2) states that:
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.
What this means is that in a conflict between federal laws and state laws: federal laws are "superior" and state courts must comply federal laws when state and federal laws are in conflict. Also, state constitutions are subordinate to federal laws. In effect, this means that laws made by the US congress is the supreme law of the land and enforceable throughout the United States.
