Saw a Facebook post about the Native Americans attitude toward gender roles and how before the Europeans came, they had 5 words for gender identity and even words that describe those who feel they are trans. Can Anyone speak on this topic on Native Americans gender roles pre-colonization?

Would you mind showing us the post? Without seeing what it exactly says, it is difficult to address the question.

Based off of what you said, I'd venture that this is one of the many false historical memes looking to score political points. The Native Americans were not a monolithic civilization - there were many groups spread over a gigantic geographic area speaking a wide variety of languages. To say that "the Native Americans" did anything so specific is to grossly simplify what a Native American actually is.

Let's say that I claim "The Europeans had 5 words for bread, and could describe advanced bread." It really tells us nothing at all. As you probably know a Spaniard will speak a different language than a Latvian, and them both being "European" tells us little about what they have in common.

There were so many different Native American civilizations that you should basically take any claim that "the Native Americans did this" with a grain of salt. Despite the fact that these claims are often made in some sort of ignorant sympathy towards Native Americans the simplification of a vast array of cultures into some sort of vague Nature Loving Progressive Hippie Fantasy is just as racist as assuming them to be spearchucking savages.
