It was in Alexandria. Ptolemy stole Alexander's body as it was being transported back to Macedonia and interred it in his capital as part of the legitimizing mythology of the Ptolemaic regime. It was known and visited (and pillaged) in Antiquity, but it's been lost since then.

Is there some theory that it's located somewhere else I haven't heard of?
