I'm curious if there was a signaling protocol or relocation of their base. How did it affect their food supply and winter preparedness? Thanks
If there was a most common form of environmental modification among Native North Americans it was probably with the use of controlled fire. At least in the west, wildfire was not particularly problematic because natives managed fuel loads near residential areas and near resource gathering areas. Regular burning was a mojor factor in maintaining native grasslands like the Willamette Valley or the Puget Sound prairies.
