Where in Germany would the US have used atomic bombs if WW2 in Europe had dragged on long enough?

There is nothing in the records that gives any indication for this, because there was never any concrete planning to use an atomic bomb in Germany. See my post here for a longer discussion about why that was. In the case of Japan, it required extensive discussion, meetings, and planning to decide on the targets that were chosen, due to constraints both in the nature of the targets, and the nature of the weapons themselves (which, for technical reasons, were better suited against some types of targets, and some uses, than others).

Hi everyone,

Just to forestall any reports: no, we don't normally allow what-if questions. However, this question is about actual strategic discussions and possible plans in the event of a more protracted war in the ETO. It should therefore be possible for an answer to be grounded in historical documentation and scholarly debate.

Thank you!
