I see it frequently claimed that the Americans, British, and French raped just as many occupied Germans as the Soviets did. But I researched it and the only source I found to claim that was a German professor named Gebhardt. Her main source was the records of Bavarian Priests, but one article which mentioned her said that her evidence was not substantive enough. Admittedly I didn't spend a long time researching so I could have missed some evidence supporting Gebhardt. What do you know?
Gebhardt's evidence is lacking to say the least, i'll put a paragraph from a Spiegel article from when the claim was originally made.
The total is not the result of deep research in archives across the country. Rather, it is an extrapolation. Gebhardt makes the assumption that 5 percent of the "war children" born to unmarried women in West Germany and West Berlin by the mid-1950s were the product of rape. That makes for a total of 1,900 children of American fathers. Gebhardt further assumes that on average, there are 100 incidents of rape for each birth. The result she arrives at is thus 190,000 victims.
So more of an estimate based on unverified assumptions than anything else. That's not to say rapes didn't happen, they definitely did as Osmar White (Australian War correspondent) wrote
'After the fighting moved on to German soil, there was a good deal of rape by combat troops and those immediately following them. The incidence varied between unit and unit according to the attitude of the commanding officer. In some cases offenders were identified, tried by court martial, and punished. The army legal branch was reticent, but admitted that for brutal or perverted sexual offences against German women, some soldiers had been shot – particularly if they happened to be Negroes. Yet I know for a fact that many women were raped by white Americans. No action was taken against the culprits. In one sector a report went round that a certain very distinguished army commander made the wisecrack, 'Copulation without conversation does not constitute fraternisation.'
But to compare this to the rape of women under soviet occupation undercuts just how bad the raping of women was in those areas, estimates for rapes in those area go up to 2 million and tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of deaths resulting from those rapes.
BTW, another comment on Gebhardt, by /u/blueblarg here Rape of German women during and after WW2
