Hello all,
Sorry if this is the wrong sub - happy to move my question if it fits somewhere else, just didn't really know where else to ask. I'm in the process of conducting a fair amount of research on World War I. In reading a few different books on the subject (i.e. The Great War by Peter Hart), I've come to realize that the absolute best resource for primary and eyewitness accounts of the war can apparently be found in the archives of the Imperial War Museum My issue is, when exploring the IWM's online collection, I'm having trouble both narrowing my search down and also finding specific items from the IWM collection that books have referenced.
For example, The Great War utilizes a quotation taken from an article titled "A Letter from India to My Daughters in England" by a Captain Charles Miller of the 2nd Royal Innisking Fusiliers. The citations list this article as coming from the IWM's documents. However, no matter if I search the author, title, or possible keywords from the quotation, I cannot seem to find the article in question in the online IWM database.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is the IWM collection not entirely digitized? Has anyone had success in using the IWM collections effectively, or know what I'm doing wrong that my searches don't return the article in question?
Thank you.
