1922 Leslie Mann Baseball Glass Slides Collection

by Nordkin

Hey r/AskHistorians,

We recently obtained this collection of 1992 Leslie Mann glass slides with absolutely no other information other than it might be of the St. Louis Cardinals and no helpful descriptions on the slide frames. Looking for any and all identification/information that anyone can tell us about these!

Thanks!

So according to my father, who knows things about baseball whereas I don't, the pictures (obviously) include quite a few Cardinals. The interesting thing is that in 1922, apparently the then-typical divide between home uniforms with logos and away uniforms with team names was blurred for the Cards. (Also note that this year, the birds and the bat were still black.)

He also spotted uniforms from Pittsburgh, Detroit, Boston, New York Giants, and Cincinnati. #18 was definitely shot in Cincinnati--Dolly Varden Chocolates is a local company there. The Giants wore pinstripes at home, so #28 was shot in New York.

He says these are really cool and he's intrigued for anything you find out!
