I'm looking for information, pictures, records, anything about my great-grandfather.

His name was Robert William Mulledy. He was born in the Bronx, NY, on February 14th, 1924. He had a sister that we never spoke about in the family. I think she died of an illness rather young because no one else really knew her. He had a younger brother, also. William Harold Mulledy. [Uncle Bill was in the Navy during WWII, and then he joined the NSA.] According to Army Air Corps paperwork, Robert Mulledy left high school after three years completed, with a diploma in 1940. He worked as a mail clerk for Chase National Bank, NYC, from 1942-43. My great grandfather was active duty in the Army Air Corps from December 10th, 1942 until September 7th, 1944. He was honorably discharged on that date. He married Geraldine Audrey Bryant (Mulledy) on Saturday, September 16th, 1944, at St. Michael's Church in New York City. After his time in the Army Air Corps, he joined the US Air Force. He flew C-36 and C-37s. My great-grandmother told me that he once gave the President a tour of NORAD. He died on December 26th, 1979 as Lieutenant Colonel Robert W. Mulledy (ret). He's buried in Fort Leavenworth, KS.

I have two of his medals: Legion of Merit, and Meritorious Service.

I also have several patches and commemorative glasses that say "7330th Flying Training Wing - Furstundfeldbruck 1953-1958"

I would ask my own family, but his belongings and pictures are divided amongst his five kids, and my grandmother has told me everything she knows. Her siblings have everything else, and they're a very spiteful crowd. My great-grandmother is now 90 years old, and has severe dementia. Her kids took all of her pictures of her husband. I don't know if she recognizes him anymore. I found some pictures on my aunt's facebook page. She went on a genealogy rampage and seized all of the family photos, including the family bible which wasn't so much a bible as a receptacle of information about the family.

I'm looking for anything about him. Anything about his life, or who he might have known, or anyone who might have snapped a picture of him.

If this is the wrong place for this question, please remove my post!

Hello there! As your question is related to looking for identification/information regarding military personnel, our Guide on Military Identification may be of use to you. It provides a number of different resources, including how to request service records from a number of national agencies around the world, as well as graphical aids to assist in deciphering rank, unit, and other forms of badges or insignia. While the users here may still be able to lend you more assistance, hopefully this will provide a good place to start!

Try the Bronx Historical Society Archives, they have a great collection of local history including on "regular people." Not a lot of it is digitized but you can probably get help from a researcher (or local college student in need of beer money).

This website is a resource the Census Bureau gives to look at the digitized Census records between 1790 and 1940 (newer records are not yet available). Just select the census you want under "collection title."

If you know his address and any household members it will make the search easier. If you have enough information to know the microfilm page range the National Archives has a guide on using the census microfilm catalogue.

There is more than one St. Michael's Church in NYC, and there may be more that closed over the years. If you know or can find out which church he was married in they might have parish records, or if the church closed/merged they might be in another parish or with the diocese. If you don't know in which church he was married, if you know to what denomination he belonged that would narrow down the possible churches.
