My biggest interests are Early-Modern Europe and Modern Europe, and as such, maps and shifting territories are a major interest for me. Are there any books that have a collection of maps of Europe say from 1500-1800? Or something like that? It'd be nice to have that as a reference rather than looking up a map for every time I need to see a territorial change.
You might like this book. I picked it up at the mall last year. The Google eBook version doesn't really do it justice. It's a large book with big pictures, and includes maps of many of Europe's biggest cities ranging from antiquity to the 1900s, but mostly between the 1400s and 1800s.
I highly recommend it, and it's also under $20 on Amazon. Well worth the price if you are into this kind of thing. A great coffee table book.
