Is there a book that discusses Nazi philosophy in depth?

by Hugo_2

I think it's valuable to understand the ideas that motivated the Nazis so that I can recognize them in contemporary discussion.

Therefore, I am looking for one of two things:

  1. An anthology that collects the philosophical writings of a variety of Nazi intellectuals.

  2. A secondary source that goes over the philosophical views of the Nazis in depth.

Ideally, the book will not be terribly expensive.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure there's plenty more to be said on the topic, but the Nazis are certainly written about ... extensively. You may want to start with this section of our books list, which is linked in the sidebar.

If you're looking for approaches to fascist/Nazi philosophy, I'd suggest the work of Carl Schmitt. He was probably among the most intellectual of the Nazi's supporters and wrote extensively. On Dictatorship and Political Theology are probably the best places to start.

If I were you however I'd stay away from this whole kettle of fish.
