Where did the phrase "X must be rolling in their grave" come from?

by ALABAMA_LEPRECHAUN_

It just struck me randomly today as being a very odd phrase as of course dead people aren't rolling anywhere in their coffins.

meridiacreative

In Seattle, we tell a story about the naming of the city that involves the city's namesake rolling over in his grave. In this story, it's a belief of the local people (he was a member of the Suquamish and Duwamish people) that saying someone's name after they've passed will cause this phenomenon.

Is this related somehow?

u/the_alaskan u/snapshot52 are either of you more familiar with this story or concept?
