Could you give some examples? It's of course going to be subjective, but as someone who doesn't really see it, it'd be good if you could offer up some examples of what you mean.
Sushi, tempura, takoyaki are all pretty different. Ramen came from China, but other noodle styles differ between the cultures. Also China has a handful of major cuisines each with their own traditional ingredients, so that's another reason examples would be useful. Things like buckwheat which is used for soba noodles doesn't exist in a number of those, because it's not the right climate to grow it. Huaiyang cuisine is nothing like food in the Northeast, for example.
Cultural exchange happened a lot between the Mainland and the island prior to the shogun era. Imperial China dominated most of the culture in East Asia region known as the Sinosphere. Food, architecture, clothing were heavily influenced and regularly exchanged between the countries.
Also I'm not really sure what type of food we are talking about and how they have similar taste. The question is fairly broad and not very easy to answer.
