At the end of a recent movie an allied pilot is captured by German soldiers at Dunkirk. Does anyone have information on where these soldiers would have been moved to throughout the war and what their survival rates were like?
The experience will of course vary with whom the holding power is, and the origin of the POWs themselves. With specific regards to the POW camps run by United States in America, this previous response I wrote will likely be of interest, as well as these follow ups from when I reposted it to /r/history.
