Questions for someone with battleship expertise for a game!

by EricBiesel

Hey! I'm playing a tabletop RPG with a group of friends, and we were looking to pick the brains of someone with knowledge of the operation of WWII era battleships. The game is set in the future, in a post zombie apocalypse world; the setting involves the zombie apocalypse having lead the large scale collapse of most of civil society and most nonessential government. The players are part of a group that has taken refuge in the USS Wisconsin, and are working to get the materials and technical expertise to get it as operational and fortified as possible. Would anyone be interested in helping out by answering some questions and speculating about how something like this might play out in a fantasy world?

Shouldn't you just put the questions in your post?

So, here's a few questions: what kind of stuff would be left on a ship like this, given that it's basically a museum piece at this point? What kind of stuff would have been salvaged off it in the first five or so years of a societal collapse? Would it be practically possible to electrify the ship? If it would even be possible, can you give our gaming group a sense of the number of people, materials, and the technical expertise that would be needed to get it to sea once again? Thank you again so much!
