Real question (not smartass I swear): how are they going to delete the thousands of poor answers people give on FB? It will be quite a bit harder to do there.

By adding high-quality resources to a platform that I personally consider low-quality, I think you're investing in a platform that doesn't deserve it.

My personal opinion doesn't matter much, but... Why do you think Facebook is the right platform to host this on? I'm aware that it's possible to create a high-quality community on "bad" platforms, (see Adam Neely on YouTube, AskHistorians on Reddit..). Do you want to build a high-quality community on Facebook?

As long as /r/AskHistorians remains active and relevant here on Reddit. I hate Facebook with JR Ewing/Jeffrey Baratheon-like passion.

I couldn't see any FB posts pointing to podcast episodes. If we don't link to them, could we? The podcast is great.

Is there any good mirror of the whole sub somewhere that's open source? This sub is the the best thing of Reddit and I'm always afraid if anything happens to Reddit this would go down with it. That would be a great loss for the internet.

I don't use Facebook and I'd like to stay off Facebook as much as possible. I only have one old AskHistorians answer so, let me ask: are you linking from Facebook here or are you pasting our stuff there?

I ask because I paranoidly don't want to feed data into the Facebook panopticon and thus be fingerprinted by my writing style. I don't think they're already automatically profiling everyone's writing on the greater internet, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were doing it for any data directly written into Facebook.

So, I humbly request: please don't copy anything I write there. Of course linking is inevitable. Just no copying.

Do you anticipate an influx of sub traffic from that? I would imagine it could put some strain on moderates if you get a lot of sudden traffic from a shared thread that gets hot on facebook.

The most recent post you guys highlighted was one of those "hot-blooded" ones from a while back. Is this whole thing an elaborate attempt to troll me? ;p

Does this sub even have any answers? Every thread I see here is a shot in the dark, I guess no answers are good enough. Why even manage a subreddit, why not write a textbook or something? "This is a sub for everyone, but no one can comment except geniuses"
