Did the Nazis sink any vessels in the intercoastal waterway?

They did not from everything I have ever seen, but on the East Coast the deployment of boats in early 1942 did prompt the completion of one of the formerly uncompleted sections!

That being the short Cape May Canal, cutting off the need to round Cape May in southern New Jersey between proceeding to the C&D Canal or North through the coastal bays of NJ.

But the poor ASW practices of the USN in 1942, and the abundance of offshore targets(where its safer for the boats to operate) meant it wasn't the most effective hunting ground. And we should remember the relatively small number of U-Boats involved, the initial DRUMBEAT deployment involved just 6 subs(as by and large on the Type IX's had the range to get there with the Type VII only possible in the most extreme of circumstances). And while the numbers surged to several dozen in American waters that summer it was never so great a force that they had to turn to hunting in such restricted or dangerous areas.
