I think you are confused. If you are referring to Timur (as in Timur-Leng or Tamurlane) the Turko-Mongol conqueror then by his time (1370 CE to 1405 CE) the city of Assur had been destroyed a millennia or so ago and therefore wasn't even inhabited when he went through the present day territory of Iraq.
