I am doing family history research and my grandfather was a german enemy prisoner of war held in UK scotland. How do I find out more about him? I am searching for any documentation on him that proves his nationality. He stayed in UK after the war ended. What was the protocol for enemy POWs who decided to stay after the war was over? Did they have to register anywhere? Who did they register with? Where can I find this information? Thank you for any help.
