Looking for books about tank and air warfare during WWII

by Dtrain16

I have already bought and read:

Tank Warfare on the Eastern Front 1941-1942 and '43-45 by Robert Forczyk (I really enjoyed these ones and they seemed well sourced.)

Red Army Tanks of WWII by Tim Bean and Will Fowler (this one had quite a few mistakes and misidentified an image of an ISU-122 as an IS-2)

Nightwitches by Bruce Myles

Flyboys by James Bradley

Deadly Sky by John C. McManus

As you can see I've been leaning towards literature about the Eastern Front because that is the main area of interest to me. I find both the European and Pacific Theaters fascinating, but I've been having trouble finding books to read that I can trust to be pretty accurate and unbiased. The books I do have I found by walking into a bookstore and picking them off the shelves which is not a great strategy for accurate learning or my wallet.

Edit: Also, if anyone has any books about the Normadie-Niemen unit of Free French pilots on the Eastern Front I would greatly appreciate info on them. They are the most interesting unit of the whole war to me.

It's not quite the front you're most interested in, but Mark Urban's The Tank War is a pretty good history of the British 5th Royal Tank Regiment from the fall of France, through the North African Campaign, D-Day and France all the way to VE Day.

Hitler's Panzers: The Lightning Attacks That Revolutionized Warfare is a pretty good book written by one of my former professors. It covers armored warfare in all theaters where the Wehrmacht fought but the Eastern Front takes up the lion share. The first part covers the pre-war development of German armored doctrine which can be somewhat dull but is still very helpful in understanding what happened during the war. Once the actual fighting starts, particularly in the Eastern Front, things pick up more.

Osprey also has some good books on the Eastern Front. They're short but are good for covering individual battles, weapons and even units.

I wish I had more info on the air war in the Eastern Front bur frankly I've been trying to find a good book on this subject myself for a while.
