There is the famous case of Semyon Konstantinovich Hitler (or Gitler, in the Russian pronunciation), who was, ironically, Jewish. A machinegunner in the Red Army, he earned a For Courage medal by not losing his cool when his platoon was encircled, firing his machinegun until he was out of ammunition and then crawled for 10 km to return to his lines.
Red Armyman Hitler was killed in 1942 during the defense of Sevastopol.
