Resources on contemporary Syrian history?

by Capsule-

I was wondering if any of you guys know any good resources on contemporary Syrian history, mainly the period following World War 1, Syrian independence in 1946, the coup de'tats and CIA operations in Syria. Thank you

Thank you

I'm not nearly as up on 20th century Syria as some of the other countries in the region but it would be worth checking out:

  • D.K. Fieldhouse's Western Imperialism in the Middle East, 1914-1958
  • Phillip Khoury's Syria and the French Mandate: The Politics of Arab Nationalism, 1920-1945
