I've recently purchased a Soviet overcoat from an estate in northern boston. The seller didnt know much about it, so i would like to see if someone could identify what branch of the armed forces its from and what time period. Any help is much appreciated.
The shoulderboards identify it as a Captain's coat.
The order form blank sewn onto the inside has the year 199_, so it's almost certainly a post-Soviet overcoat.
The red colour of the insignia for this era is infantry or motorized infantry.
The gray colour overcoat is the semi-formal (everyday-parade) uniform.
