I'm looking for examples of people that Nazi Propaganda held up as heroes (maybe even martyrs, or at the least good examples) of Nazi values, practices and ideas. Examples from fascist Italy are also welcome, but I woulod prefer Nazi German ones.
Thanks
The book you are looking for is Jay Baird's *To Die for Germany: Heroes in the Nazi Pantheon."
He has chapters on Langemarck (a First World War battle); Albert Leo Schlageter; on the Nazis killed during the Beer Hall Putsch of 1923; on Horst Wessel; and on Herbert Norkus; as well as on Nazi culture-makers like Gerhard Schumann; Hans Baumann; and Karl Ritter (cinema).
Baird was a respected historian and engaging writer, so it should be an interesting read.
