Were Nazi assumptions that the Soviet military would collapse after a few weeks of combat with the Wehrmacht purely founded on stereotypes/assumptions about the Soviets?

Correct if I'm wrong, but I thought I read that one of the main ideas of Barbarossa was that the Soviet military would collapse after a relatively brief period of intense combat. If this is true, was this assumption, that served as the crux of Barbarossa, purely a product of stereotypes or negative ideas of the Soviets and their high command, or did the Nazis try to corroborate this with military intelligence?

That might be a good place to start.
