[WWII] Help identifying the solider who wore this WWII Ike Jacket?// What do these codes mean?

by Mellefluous

Hi Historians, let me now if there's a better place to ask this or point me in the direction where I could find the right info. I think asking for direct personal identification goes against this sub’s rules, so what I’m looking for is help in understanding the codes found on the inside of this jacket. (I read in an old military forum that the letter at the beginning of the laundry number is the first initial of the soldier’s surname, is that correct? What is “Q. M. C. Tent Spec.”? etc.)

I don't have any relation btw, I bought this jacket at a thrift store. (feels a bit like I came home with a museum piece.) I'd like to honour the memory of the wearer and better understand the history behind it.

(edit: reddit is determined to mess up the formatting, it's more legible on imgur)

Hello there! As your question is related to looking for identification/information regarding military personnel, our Guide on Military Identification may be of use to you. It provides a number of different resources, including how to request service records from a number of national agencies around the world, as well as graphical aids to assist in deciphering rank, unit, and other forms of badges or insignia. While the users here may still be able to lend you more assistance, hopefully this will provide a good place to start!
