I assume that the samurai standing in the middle of this image is Akechi Mitsuhide, and the man committing seppuku in the temple is Oda Nobunaga. However, I can not figure out who the yellow samurai to the left of Mitsuhide is. The artist painted him in such a way that he was deemed important to this incident since he is colored, detailed, and in the foreground, but I am having trouble identifying who the samurai is supposed to be. Furthermore, what was his significance to this incident?
The figure on the right is indeed Oda Nobunaga. But the figure in the middle is not Akechi Mitsuhide, but Yasuda Kunitsugu (labeled by his kemyō as Yasuda Sakube), a samurai under Mitsuhide who supposedly wounded Nobunaga with a spear. The figure on the left in yellow is Mori Ranmaru, Nobunaga's page, aide, and bodyguard, who fought and was killed at Honnōji, supposedly by Yasuda Kunitsugu.
