Yes. Off the top of my head, there were multiple attempts to recapture/raid Egypt, perhaps most notably the brief Byzantine recapture of Alexandria in 645, the fifth Crusade, and the Alexandrian Crusade/Sack of Alexandria in the 14th century. Further west, what is now modern Tunisia was contested in the late 7th century. The Arabs captured Carthage (modern Tunis) in 693, which was recaptured by the Byzantines in 697 and then captured once again by the Arabs in 698. In the 12th century the Normans were able to establish control over the same area.. The 15th century also saw Christian states capture various enclaves in North Africa, such as the Portuguese conquest of Ceuta.
